• WELCOME TO THE HELLMOUTH
Buffy moves to Sunnydale, determined to leave Slaying behind her, and meets the future Scoobies. But handsome stranger Angel warns her about the Harvest, and her new friends are attacked by vampires. Buffy is cornered by a vampire named Luke, and the episode continues in…
• THE HARVEST
Buffy gets away from Luke in time to save Willow and Xander but not their friend Jesse. Buffy and Xander try to save him from the Master’s minions, but Jesse has already been turned. Xander stakes him while Buffy dusts Luke and stops the Harvest in time to keep the Master from breaking free.
• THE WITCH
Someone is using magick to pick off the cheerleaders, and Buffy is the squad’s first alternate. After she is lethally hexed, Giles and new friend Amy reverse the spell, solving a case of bodysnatching in the process.
• TEACHER’S PET
The new maneater of a substitute teacher is literally that: she’s actually a giant, shapeshifting preying mantis who seduces virgins (namely, Xander) into fertilizing her eggs, after which she chows down on their heads.
• NEVER KILL A BOY ON THE FIRST DATE
Buffy meets a nice guy, and they really hit it off. But when he enjoys the danger of her life too much, she has to break up with him to keep him from getting killed. Also, Giles uncovers a prophecy about the Annointed One, who will be the Master’s greatest weapon against the Slayer. Buffy stakes the most likely culprit, not knowing that it isn’t the right guy.
• THE PACK
Xander and the school bullies are possessed by hyenas on a field trip and begin exhibiting some very hyena-esque behaviour. After cruelly mocking Willow’s feelings for him, Xander leads the others on a hunt for food, and they devour the school’s mascot pig, Herbert. Then while the others eat Principal Flutie, Xander decides to attack Buffy. Bad move, Xander. Bad move.
• ANGEL
When the Master charges The Three with taking out the Slayer, Buffy and Angel hide out at her house. They finally kiss, and Angel unwittingly reveals that he’s a vampire. Torn between her feelings and duty, Buffy doesn’t want to stake him, but Angel’s ex, Darla, forces Buffy’s hand by attacking Joyce. Buffy goes to kill Angel, but he stakes Darla to save Buffy’s life.
• I ROBOT, YOU JANE
Willow’s new online beau is an ancient demon she accidentally uploaded to the Internet. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Moloch/Malcolm causes havoc with the world’s computer systems and uses supernatural charisma to get the school’s computer crowd to do his bidding. The computer teacher, Jenny Calendar, helps Giles bind the demon, and then Buffy tricks Moloch into electrocuting himself.
• THE PUPPET SHOW
A demon is harvesting organs at school, and the gang suspects Morgan and/or his creepy, wooden dummy. Sid the Dummy turns out to be alive, but he’s actually a demon hunter, who helps the Scoobies kill the bad guy just in time for the curtain to go up on the school’s talent show.
• NIGHTMARES
All around school, people’s nightmares start coming true. Xander shows up to class in his underwear, Willow has to sing in public, Buffy is unprepared for a surprise test, Giles can’t read, and most horrifying of all, Cordelia has very bad hair. Oh, yeah, and Buffy becomes a vampire. Common demoninators: Lucky 19 and the Ugly Man.
• OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF MIND
Cordelia is attacked by an invisible assailant and goes to suspected gang member Buffy for help. Marcie Ross has become invisible after years of being ignored (and living on the Hellmouth), and her jealousy of Cordelia has gotten kind of homicidal. Buffy gets her zen on and clobbers Marcie, who is whisked away by some shady government-types and taught the fine art of state assassination for fun and profit.
• PROPHECY GIRL
Buffy quits the Slayage game after hearing a prophecy that she will face the Master and die. But when Willow is frightened by a murder on campus, Buffy allows the Annoined One to lead her to the Master. Sure enough, he kills her and gains his freedom in the process. Xander revives her with CPR, and she kills the Master right back. Most importantly, though, everybody loves Buffy’s dress.
