ALYSON HANNIGAN

A veteran performer who has been acting since the age of four, Alyson Hannigan portrays Willow Rosenberg, Buffy’s best friend and confidant, in the hit television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Her character has developed throughout the past few seasons from the high school computer geek of the early episodes to, now, a young college student exploring her sexuality, as well as her witchcraft.

Born in Washington D.C., Hannigan moved to Atlanta at age two. She began her career in Atlanta doing commercials, working steadily in national spots for companies like McDonald’s, Six Flags Amusement Parks and Oreo Cookies. At age 11, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting roles in television and film.

Her breakthrough role came at age 13 when she was cast as Dan Akroyd’s misunderstood daughter in the feature film “My Stepmother is an Alien.” She went on to guest star on a number of popular television shows, including “Picket Fences,” “Roseanne” and “Touched by an Angel.” She was a recurring character on the series “Almost Home” and a series regular on “Free Spirit.”

In the summer of 2001, Hannigan was seen starring in Universal’s much-anticipated sequel “American Pie 2”, in which she reprised her role as the flute playing band camper, Michelle, alongside co-stars Jason Biggs, Chris Klein and Mena Suvari.

Since the end of the series, Hannigan went on to star alongside Neil Patrick Harris, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders, as Jason Segal’s wife Lily Aldrin, in the Golden Globe and Prime-time Emmy nominated show, “How I Met Your Mother”. She has also starred in “American Wedding” and “American Reunion”, reprising her role as Michelle Flaherty.

Hannigan married “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-star, Alexis Denisof in October 2003. The couple currently reside in Los Angeles, CA. They have 2 children.
